Blogging Photography

People used to love their photos way before preset became a thing. Now the use of presets is the hottest thing out there, having a page with a carefully crafted presets is the next thing now.

Someone asked me the other day why I do not use preset that would give my feeds an artistic look.

My answer is simple; I have my own preset which I like to use to retain my skin tone and keep my outfit colours the same, I have used one of those presets that turned my skin into orange. It was awful, see this post here for evidence.

As a black skin woman, some of the presets out there are not suitable for my skin tone, I have bought lots and add them to my Lightroom for editing the overall photo come out orange. There are very few presets that works for dark skin.

One of my goals this year was to stop doing things that do not work for me and to stop wasting my time trying to make it work.

Another problem with using preset that changes the outfit you wear to a different colour is that it gave a customer or potential buyer a false ideal of the actual colours.

For example; a particular blogger I have been following on Instagram whos photos looks all brown feeds there was this dress yellow she wore but, after applying her preset the dress came out dark brown. So, I clicked the link on her page and went to the retailer where she bought the dress from, to my surprise, the dress was yellow, not brown.

I am happy to keep all my colours in place. What you see is what you get.

So, what is your opinion on using presets to change or edit your photos?
