REDEFINING INSPIRING AND ENTERTAINING

In my opinion, sometimes that inspired me is what elevate my palate to a whole new level.
Few days ago, a serious conversation between two unnamed colleague at work got to a point it became an argument, the topic was if runway models are inspiring people to loose weight and stay healthy or simply for entertaining purpose and why Victoria’s Secret does not sell plus size underthings.

The conversation was changed when i was called to give my opinion about this, from my own perspective on this subject matter, runway model are stage for entertaining the product they promote, they does not inspire viewers to loose weight or anything for that matter. Victoria’s Secret controversy is not new to anyone anymore, since i can remember the first time i heard their name.Their models just don’t fall under the category of inspirational or anything that sound like that.

I understand dressy chic with candy floss hair style is not enough to be called inspirational, but you can argue that the generation of this days, will consider mini skirt and decolletage top as inspiring thing.

Unfortunately this is the sad truth.

For example Nicky Minaj and Kate Perry songs are simply for entertainment pleasure. While Grace Jones, Whitney Houston and Celine Dion songs are absolutely inspirational. Considering the above list are all in entertainment business. Consider the vocal ranges please.

Even wikipedia gave a different meanings.
“Entertainment, event, performance, or activity designed to give pleasure to an audience”
“Inspirational something Artistic inspiration, creativity in artistic production”
While i understand that the outfits in this post might not be inspiring nor entertaining, but it does make me feel truly myself and comfortable. A busy weekend in London does make me rethink how to dress before i leave home. Not going out for entertaining purpose. Thank God for that…….

I am happy to hear your opinion on this topic.

Continuation of small talk about camera:

You are indeed right that there is a difference between pleasure and inspirational.
    Great examples you mentioned– singers!
Models are paid as models– but they are not an inspiration to loose weight– they are just models on what we want to look like.
What we really want is to become healthy and be comfortable on our own body and skin.

Anyways, i love this look on you– so lovely inside and out.

I really love the first outfit and it looks like you have been eating some amazing food. As far as models (specifically VS models) go, I think that the runway show each year is really fun to watch because it just makes women feel feminine and girly, kind of like watching Gossip Girl. But we cannot ignore the fact that when women see perfectly made up women with perfect bodies without also showing women who are equally as beautiful who might have different figures, we are only taught that one kind of look is beautiful, even if it is subconscious.

Loving both looks. Esp. the first with the cool shirt dress. I totally agree with you. I don't think these models are inspiring at all. We don't have VS over here but I don't like shops like VS that doesn't sell plus sizes. Do they think skinny women are better, or what?!

I'm so much with you and you, Sophia! I don't see models as inspiration either since the actual work is done by artists, as such as designers, stylists, personal trainers and make up artists of course. There's so much going on behind those beautiful backs! 🙂 Thought provoking post and fab impressions, hun! Glad you have a new Nikon now! Using it too. Happy Monday, Sophia!

I totally agree with you. I do think that younger girls are more impressionable so they feel like they need to a certain size or figure.
Great post that makes people think.

I find fashion shows inspirational for the fashion but the models are not inspirational to lose weight for me. Love your outfit!

I think that what is considered inspiring is dependent on the person. I don't think you could rule out a Victoria's Secret model simply because of their size or pop star simply because there isn't much substance to their music. It's all in the perspective.

I totally agree with you, I for one don't believe runway models are supposed to inspire people to lose weight but they are supposed to make the clothes they are selling appealing to the general public. I believe inspiration is sometime that makes you aspire to be a better you in any area of your life the inspiration is targeted. Too long, I know (lol)

I think its more about being comfortable in your own skin cause there are things we just can't change for example our appearance, weight and hair texture and if someone is okay with going for surgery to change appearance or loosing weight to be a model or wearing extensions to feel better its their decisions and others just need to respect it but the society won't understand it anyway as those who feel better than others bring others down instead of lifting them up.
My dear you look so good i water you wear and that shirt dress was specialy made for you oh
and Nikon is great I also got the D5300 and am just planning to buy a bigger lens so as to have a blurry background !
    enjoy your Week

Dear Sophia, interesting topic! In German we have a saying and I translate it word to word "The eyes is also eating." I think the appearance nowadays mostly gets more attention as much more pictures (Internet …) available as in the past.
As usual I like what you wear. The A-Shape dress is fantastic on you and I love also your culottes with the crochet top.

Good to here that you like Nikon product too.

  17. August 25, 2015 / 9:48 pm

I could not agree more, you said it.

  18. August 25, 2015 / 9:52 pm

It is down to individual as to what makes them feel inspired, like i said in my opinion, they don't inspire anything. I am not a fan of the type of music hat i cannot relate to, regardless OF HOW BIG TH POP STAR BUTT IS!!!! But again, it is down to individual viewing to make the decision of what sound inspired them.

  19. August 25, 2015 / 9:53 pm

Same here, the show is ok, but the model are not inspiring anything.

  20. August 25, 2015 / 9:58 pm

Am glad you understand both are different things.

I agree with you, on music as well, There is a true difference in inspirational and mere entertainment. Love your style shots. Have a great week dear. x/Madison
